Many organizations are adapting to the HE reforms and economic uncertainty by thinking and working differently. The fundamental role of the library is changing and is being challenged in new ways, unthinkable in the past. Risks and threats to the existence of libraries are ever present: the conference attempts to answer - does collaboration heighten or reduce risks? What opportunities exist to strengthen the academic library and work cross boundary in innovative ways in a cost effective manner?

Conference themes:

Students as Partners: student experience and expectations; strategic working with students and student unions.

Frameworks for Collaboration: commercial models; cross institutional collaboration; wider societal influences; working with diverse professional groups, impact measurement.

Leadership: leadership development; good practice; power relationships and blurring professional boundaries; communities of practice.

New Information Environments: open access and scholarly publishing, technology as an enabler of collaborative practices.

Audience:

This conference will be of interest to all who engage with higher education in any capacity - librarians, student services professionals and related fields. It provides a current view of the role of collaboration and the need for it in a fast moving and volatile education sector.
